【English Name】Toyosu fish market / Toyosu market

One of the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Markets, located in Toyosu 6-chome, Koto Ward, it is a public wholesale market boasting the largest seafood handling volume in the country. Developed as the successor to Tsukiji Market, it began operations on October 11, 2018.

The total site area is about 407,000 m² and the total floor area reaches about 517,000 m². The grounds are divided into three blocks: the produce building in Block 5, the seafood intermediate wholesale building in Block 6, and the seafood wholesale building and management facility building in Block 7.

Its connection with the sushi industry is extremely strong. A considerable portion of fresh fish, including the tuna purchased by sushi shops across the country, is distributed through this market. The facility adopts an enclosed building design, providing an environment in which consistent temperature control is possible from receiving to shipping. Industry insiders widely praise it for achieving dramatic improvements, incomparable to the former facility, in both hygiene standards and freshness preservation.

The nearest station is "Shijo-mae" on the Yurikamome line, and a tuna auction viewing program is also offered for the general public. Several restaurants operate within the grounds, and in February 2024 the commercial and hot-spring complex "Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai" opened on adjacent land, strengthening its character as a tourist destination.
