【English Name】Oma fishing port

A class-3 fishing port located on the Pacific coast of Isumi City, Chiba Prefecture. It lies within the Minami Boso Quasi-National Park and is a natural good harbor situated roughly midway between Inubosaki and Nojimazaki.

About a dozen-plus kilometers offshore spreads a rocky reef zone called kikai-ne, about 120 square kilometers in area at a depth of around 20 meters. This sea area lies where the Kuroshio (warm) and Oyashio (cold) currents meet, forming an excellent fishing ground where a wide variety of fish and shellfish gather.

It is nationally known especially for its catch of Japanese spiny lobster (ise-ebi), and Sotobo ise-ebi is certified as a Pride Fish and a Chiba Prefecture marine brand. The season is mainly April to May and August to December. Also, the Taito-Ohara common octopus (madako), caught by octopus-pot fishing that has continued since the Keicho era, is also certified as a prefectural marine brand, with December to January being its season.

The landed species are wide-ranging, including sardine, bonito, flounder, red sea bream, and yellowtail. Regional events are also actively held, such as the weekly Sunday Harbor Morning Market and the annual Ise-ebi Festival held from August to October.
