"Sakura-anago" is a name for which a listing as an independent species cannot currently be confirmed in major fish encyclopedias or classification databases.

Generally, "anago" (conger) is a general term for saltwater fish belonging to the order Anguilliformes, family Congridae, and many species inhabit the waters near Japan, such as maanago, kuro-anago, goten-anago, gin-anago, and hana-anago.
